How to Add Local Business Schema to Your Website

Add the code to your homepage, or to your contact or location page. Use it on one page per location, not on every page of your site.

    WordPress
Install a free plugin that lets you add code to the header, such as a "header and footer scripts" plugin. Paste the code into the header box for your homepage only and save. If you use an SEO plugin like Yoast or Rank Math, check its local business settings first; it may already output business schema, and you don't want two conflicting versions.
    Wix
Open your site dashboard, go to the SEO settings for the page, find the section for structured data markup, and paste the code. Wix may already add basic business schema from your business info, so review what's there before adding more.
    Squarespace
Open the page's settings, go to the Advanced tab and paste the code into the page header code injection box. Code injection is available on Squarespace's business and commerce plans.
    Shopify
In your theme editor, choose Edit code, open the main theme layout file, and paste the code just before the closing head tag. Wrap it so it only loads on the homepage, or ask your developer to add it to the homepage template.
    Plain HTML website
Paste the whole code block, including the script tags, anywhere inside the head section of the page, or just before the closing body tag. Upload the page and test it.
    Why it matters

What Local Business Schema Does, and What It Doesn't

Schema markup is a small block of code that labels the facts on your page in a format machines can read without guessing: this is the business name, this is the address, these are the opening hours. Google uses structured data to understand pages and to power enhanced results, and AI search tools increasingly rely on clear, consistent facts when they describe or recommend a business.

It isn't a ranking shortcut. Schema won't push a weak page to the top of Google, and Google may choose not to show enhanced results even when your markup is valid. What it does is remove ambiguity, which matters more as search moves toward AI-generated answers. It works best alongside a complete Google Business Profile, consistent listings and genuine reviews, which is what our local SEO services focus on. For the bigger picture, see our AI SEO guide.

    FAQ

    Local Business Schema Questions

    What is local business schema?
Local business schema is structured data, usually written in a format called JSON-LD, that labels facts about a business such as its name, address, phone number, opening hours and website. Search engines read it to understand the business without guessing.
Does local business schema help SEO?
It helps Google and other search tools understand your business clearly and consistently, which supports local search and AI-generated answers. It is not a ranking shortcut on its own. Your Google Business Profile, reviews and consistent listings matter more for local rankings.
Where should I put the schema code?
Add it to the page that best represents the business location, usually the homepage or the contact page. If you have several locations, give each location its own page and its own schema block.
Should I add star ratings or reviews to my schema?
No. Google does not show review stars for a business's own reviews of itself marked up on its own website, and adding ratings you can't show on the page can be treated as spam. Let customers leave reviews on Google and other platforms instead. That's why this generator leaves ratings out.
How do I test my schema?
After adding the code to your live page, run the page through Google's free Rich Results Test or the Schema Markup Validator. Both are free and show errors and warnings.
I don't have a storefront. Can I still use it?
Yes. Tick the service-area box and the street address is left out. Include your city, state and the areas you serve so search engines know where you work.
Is this tool really free? Do you store my information?
Yes, it's free and needs no sign-up. The code is built entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Clicks Dynasty or anyone else. Your last entries are saved only in your own browser so you can come back and edit them.
